Agile Business Analysis

According to International Institute of Business Analysis, business analysis is a disciplined approach for introducing and managing change to organizations, whether they are for-profit businesses, governments, or non-profits. In a very simple language, business analysis is about systematically assessing the needs of a business (not really users) and helping to bring about change that can help the business to compete favorably or gain an advantage over the competition.

Agile business analysis, on the other hand, is the practice of business analysis in an agile environ- ment with an agile mindset. You might be wondering what is an agile mindset? An agile mindset means you focus on delivering value rapidly and consistently, collaborate with others to get the work done, iterate to continually learn, simplify to avoid waste, and consider the context in which you are working.

Agile business analysts are change and transformation agents who help businesses to navigate major improvements to business processes such as technology adoption or business process redesign/re-engineering, help stakeholders to elicit requirements for decision making, test new products or solutions as well user interface redesign. Agile business analysts wear many hats on the job as they might be required to step into other roles such as scrum master, software tester, and product owner/manager at different points in their career.
